I recently received notice that I'll be showcasing at North by NorthEast (NXNE) in Toronto this June. Since the Eastern tour this will be my third trip down that way - because of the people and friendships that have developed I'm even more excited to go back before I had anticipated! If you're not familiar with NXNE, check out the site - if you're out that way, I hope you'll come out to my showcase - Free Times Cafe, June 14, 11:00pm (tickets are on sale now!) This last time I was down there I happened to play the Free Times, a sweet intimate room... maybe pick up a ticket soon, I really wanna see ya and would hate for you to miss if it were sold out;)

Phew!! I missed my plane getting home from the shows out East, but that's the only bummer about the entire trip! I wanna thank everyone that put food in my belly and kept me out of the rain... Lois and Steve, Todd, Claire-bear, Jeannie, Malachi - blessed and inspired thank you thank you!! As well thank you to everyone that's writing to me that were at the shows - your enthusiastic support stokes this fire indeed! I'm working on posting HAVE A GREAT DAY from the London Music Club show- I wish I could take all of you with me every time I sing it ;) LOL

Hello-hello - I'm really looking forward to playing the lunch hour show tomorrow - Dave Graham (everything) and Bruce Berven (pretty much everything too) will be playing with me at the Lunch Concert at the MTS Centre - we've been working on some tunes for a couple weeks together and having an absolute riot - a lot of laughing and improv... leading to lots of new material that I'm really excited about - I do spend a fair amount of time buckling to my knees to catch my breath from the laughter during rehearsal! It's the Spring vibe too, this energy that luckily surrounds me... I need some rubber boots - and a cute knee high dress... I'm in one of those moods - that's pretty new to me to be thinking about wanting a dress - but yeah, some rubber boots - cuz I love puddles! I hope you're getting high off the sunshine too ;)

Almost like groundhog day - I popped my head out of my hole this afternoon for the first time in quite some.... I got a little fresh air up my nose and came back to the light - I've been in a creating mode for the last month and a bit. Of course, my business side is really needing a good catch up - but why do I do this? Well then... because it feels good and helps me and all those that have to live with me... so I'm doing exactly what I should be doing!

Going to try to get some demos of the new trax up really soon - good thoughts and wellness to you :) "Breath... like babies before they forgot how.... " - serena

Music In The Alcove - Red Lake Region

I'm not sure where to start... beginning would be the obvious answer. Up early and eager as I get that ticklish kind of excitement when I'm heading out on the road. Perfect weather for driving, not a cloud in the sky just the sweetest blue (which crayola doesn't seem to have). I love how it kisses the horizon through the windshield, the rear view mirror, to my left, to my right... I was fully prepared with a stack of 'road mixes' I made the night before, a pizza I figured I could snack on and two red bulls (which I probably shouldn't have drank back to back...LOL!) I was completely exhilarated by the ride and drained the battery on my hand held recorder with poems and rambling thoughts of the view. There's purpose out there on the highway, you're always headed somewhere...

Music in the Alcove is hosted by Deb and Ken who have made it a monthly tradition over the past seven years. Situated right on the lake it was like being at the cottage. I was greeted by Sasha the sweetest Malamute I have ever met and quickly felt right at home. Their resident chef had dinner ready and we all sat down together (it's ridiculous the orgasm my mouth was having through our meal!!) Set up quick and folks were already arriving - a packed house was seated and we got underway. It may have been the over dose of red bull, but I was flying - it seemed to work though! If they were laughing at me, or with me, doesn't matter - that room has great acoustic sound to travel the laughter like a hug to my spirit. Easily my favourite audience was them... notice when you're really tired it's like being drunk... my grammar isn't flowing right now;)

I had such an all around amazing experience out there that leaving put a lump in my throat - (nature - and being in beautiful new places always draws huge swirls of emotion out of me) I'm definitely looking forward to getting back up there for some writing time in the spring - I'm in love with that region! The ride home was much more quiet as I listened to some new music I haven't had time to yet and I just let the rolling view fill me up. I feel spoiled - I love my life! Thank you to everyone I met this past weekend - in awe, and so inspired!

Yo-yo-yo Happy Holidays!!

It just keeps getting better and better every year. 2007 for me was a trip for sure, with the festivals and the touring. But now, a new year, a new album coming, it was about time for a new website (thank you-thank you Todd for doing all of this, you've made my life much easier!!!) Since there's lots of stuff to check out and I'm drafting up a newsletter I'll leave this short and sweet... THANKS for your continued support :) xoxo
